- LCFC Women face Sunderland at Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground on Wednesday
- The Continental Tyres League Cup match has a 7:30pm GMT kick-off
- Wednesday’s original fixture in December was postponed due to a frozen pitch
- Everyone needed those few weeks off but are positive for the return, claims Bott

It’s been six weeks since the Foxes were last in action, when they were defeated by Chelsea at King Power Stadium. Since then, three games fell victim to the freezing weather conditions in December and were all postponed.

One of which was a League Cup match away at Sunderland, and defender CJ Bott spoke to LCFC TV to preview the rescheduled fixture, ahead of City’s trip to the North East.

“The Christmas break was good, It was the perfect reset,” the full-back explained. “It was a tough first part of the season and I think everyone needed a few weeks off to reboot and come back with a fresh attitude.

We go into each match wanting to win. We’ll put our best foot forward tomorrow; we’re keen to score goals and get the win.

“We’re feeling good. It’s been a tough few weeks, for good reason, but we’ve been working hard towards tomorrow night (against Sunderland), and we can’t wait to get going again.”

Having won only one game all season, a cup match against Blackburn Rovers, the Foxes are raring to get going and use the Group B match as a chance to build some confidence.

“We spoke the other day that no game should be wasted,” the 27-year-old continued. “We go into each match wanting to win. We’ll put our best foot forward tomorrow; we’re keen to score goals and get the win.

“If we don’t win tomorrow then Manchester City will be a much more difficult test, so we want to pick up the three points to give us a fighting chance against City.”

With a cup match against the Manchester club and a Barclays Women’s Super League fixture with Liverpool also postponed, the defender believes this gives Leicester an advantage, having had more time to prepare and focus on what’s required of them.

“Having to travel back up to Sunderland again doesn’t bother us,” Bott claimed. “We had to deal with the postponements before the break, but it’s provided us with extra time to prepare for these opportunities, and we’re looking positive and are ready to go.”
