- LCFC Women agree loan signing of Ruby Mace
- The midfielder has joined on loan from Manchester City
- The 19-year-old is a current England youth international
The 19-year-old makes the move to Leicestershire having represented both Manchester City and Arsenal in the top tier of English football. The highly-rated youngster is also a regular in the England youth ranks having played for her country at Under-17 and Under-19 levels.
Mace primarily operates as a midfielder but can also play in central defence. Her arrival at Belvoir Drive adds further competition to Willie Kirk’s squad ahead of a key period of fixtures in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Speaking to LCFC TV, Mace said: “I’m really happy and it feels good to be here. I want to showcase my ability and help the team as much as possible. I can see how hard the girls are working and I want to be in that kind of environment where you are constantly pushing.”
Mace’s footballing education saw her begin her career with Arsenal, where she made her debut at 17 – coming on as a substitute in a 4-0 Vitality Women’s FA Cup Quarter-Final win over Tottenham Hotspur in 2020.
The following season saw Mace join Birmingham City on a dual registration basis, playing 11 times for the West Midlands outfit during their WSL campaign, before a move to Manchester City materialised in June 2021.
Mace will now link up with her new team-mates at Belvoir Drive as the squad prepare to face Reading in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup at Pirelli Stadium on Sunday afternoon (4pm GMT kick-off).
