The Foxes faced fourth-tier opposition for the second time in this season’s competition and, following the 1-0 success at Gillingham earlier this month, repeated the feat at Bescot Stadium on Saturday to book a place in round five.

Speaking to LCFC TV post-match, the defender was pleased to play his part and contribute to the win, acknowledging that it was a difficult challenge against the Sky Bet League 2 side.

“I feel good for my team-mates,” he commented after full-time. “Everybody's feeling good now to go through in the FA Cup. I know it's a very good tournament in this country.

I think this tournament is for Kelechi. I will say that because every game he will come in and score in this tournament

“Because of a type of game like this, [against a team from this] division, they like to play long balls. We have to stay disciplined and win the ball - first ball, second ball.”

Possessing the majority of the ball, Amartey and central defensive partner Wout Faes were able to step out on numerous occasions to start attacks, while also keeping a clean sheet at the other end.

The Ghanian explained: “I like to do it, if I have the chance, I have the opportunity to do, I go more, if they have no space, you have to know how to pass the ball.”

Kelechi Iheanacho scored the goal that sent City through, while there was a welcome return for James Maddison, who started for the first time since before the FIFA World Cup.

Amartey also felt that debutant Victor Kristiansen has adapted well to life at Leicester.

The centre-back continued: “I think this tournament is for Kelechi. I will say that because every game he will come in and score in this tournament. I'm happy for him.

“It was good for the team [to have Maddison back], and you can see the movement. I think we missed him, and I thank God that he is back now. It's sweet.

“He (Victor Kristiansen) is good. It’s a different game, but I think he knows, he listens to us, so yes, it's good.”

On the draw, which takes place at 7pm GMT on Monday evening, Amartey added that he does not have any preference when it comes to who the Foxes face next up: “I'm ready for anybody, yes, anyone.”
