Brendan Rodgers is hopeful that Leicester City midfielder James Maddison will be available for Saturday's visit to Southampton.

- James Maddison could be available for Leicester City's next outing
- The Foxes face Southampton at St. Mary's Stadium on Saturday evening
- Manager Brendan Rodgers is hoping to have Maddison back from a mild illness
- He also provided an update on Ricardo Pereira, who started on Tuesday night

The Foxes head to St. Mary's Stadium for a 5:30pm GMT kick-off. Southampton are bottom of the Premier League, three points from safety and six behind City, who are 14th. Maddison - Leicester's top goalscorer this term - has been absent with illness for recent home defeats by Premier League leaders Arsenal and Sky Bet Championship side Blackburn Rovers, in the Emirates FA Cup.

There’s no new injury concerns. Some of the guys who got through the game the other night are all good.

"James should be fine," Rodgers told the media at the Club's Seagrave training ground on Thursday. "Fingers crossed he gets through the rest of the week okay. He’s obviously a very important player for us. It’s about the team. Obviously, James gives another dimension to the team. His importance is clear to see but ultimately it’s a team effort."

Speaking immediately after the FA Cup loss to Blackburn, the Northern Irishman revealed that Youri Tielemans will be absent for up to six weeks with an ankle ligaments issue. Thankfully, there's no new concerns in the squad.

Ricardo Pereira started that tie against Rovers too, following an Achilles injury which has kept him out since August.

"There’s no new injury concerns," Rodgers added. "Some of the guys who got through the game the other night are all good. [Ricardo] had not after-effects. It was great for him to get the game time. It’s good to have him back on the training field and we’ll see what game time he gets. It’s great to have him back on training field."
