Three days on from a goalless draw against Everton at King Power Stadium, Leicester are straight back into WSL action. Ahead of the trip to Brisbane Road for Wednesday's 7pm GMT kick-off, take a look at how both sides are shaping up...
The Foxes camp
The point earned at home to the Toffees on Sunday has closed the gap on the teams directly above City, with this fixture providing an opportunity to move off the foot of the table and, should they win, leapfrog Tottenham.
Currently on seven points from 14 matches played, Willie Kirk's side are a point behind Brighton & Hove Albion in 11th, with Spurs a further point ahead in 10th, having played the same amount of games.
Talking points
Speaking to LCFC TV, manager Willie Kirk said: “It’s now the biggest game of the season. They all have been recently, but we always only focus on what’s right in front of us, and I think we’ll take confidence into it."
City defender Georgia Eaton Collins also provided her thoughts: “We have a good run of games now, where we can gain some momentum going forward. I think the Spurs game on Wednesday will be vital for us.”
The opposition
The Lilywhites will be looking to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, when goals from Emma Koivisto and Missy Bo Kearns sealed three points for the Reds. Rosella Ayane had given the visitors to Prenton Park an early lead, but they ultimately left Merseyside empty handed.
It was a ninth-straight league defeat for Spurs, who have failed to back up their positive start to the season, which included an 8-0 hammering of Brighton & Hove Albion in late October 2022. Parting company with manager Rehanne Skinner earlier this week, Vicky Jepson will take charge of the team against Leicester.
Tottenham are also out of both domestic cups, knocked out of the Continental Tyres League Cup by Chelsea at the quarter-final stage, before a shootout defeat to Reading in the Vitality Women's FA Cup Fifth Round. The Royals had beaten Leicester on penalties in the previous round of the competition.
One to watch could be Lionesses star Bethany England, who has already hit the net three times in as many games for Spurs since her move from Chelsea, becoming the club's joint-top WSL goalscorer across 2022/23 in the process.
Last time out
Leicester faced Spurs on the opening day of the season on Filbert Way, and it was the away side who picked up the points, in a 2-1 scoreline. Tottenham's Drew Spence scored for both sides, while Ashleigh Neville also found the net.
The Foxes also faced the London outfit in the final match of the 2021/22 campaign. Neville was once again was the goalscorer in a 1-0 defeat for City.
