- Patson Daka and Zambia earn 3-1 win over Lesotho in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying
- A 50th cap for Daniel Amartey as Ghana gain an important late win against Angola
- For England, James Maddison is an unused substitute as the side win in Italy
- Success for Ben Nelson with England Under-19s who beat Hungary on Tuesday
In Ndola, Daka was part of the Zambia team to gain three points from their latest qualification fixture, though the side needed to come from behind to claim a 3-1 win over Lesotho at Levy Mwanawasa stadium.
After conceding the opener, Rangers forward Fashion Sakala pulled the Copper Bullets level before the break. A quickfire Lameck Banda brace followed the restart and sealed the result for the hosts, who top Group H, though they have played a game more than second-placed side Ivory Coast.
Daka was on the pitch for the full match, with Zambia next travelling to Johannesburg in South Africa for their second qualifier of the ongoing international break, also against Lesotho, on Sunday afternoon.
There was a crucial late intervention in Kumasi as Amartey's Ghana snatched a priceless 1-0 win six minutes into added time against group rivals Angola, in a match where the Foxes defender brought up his half century of international appearances.
Going into the game the nations were tied on points in qualification, and the fixture remianed goalless late in proceedings. That was until AFC Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo netted his first goal for the Black Stars to send them three points clear at the summit of Group E.
It was also a clean sheet for Amartey, who started in defence for the Black Stars and played the full 90 at Baba Yara Stadium. Ghana return to action on Monday, again taking on Angola, this time away from home in Luanda.
England began their qualification process for the European Championships with an impressive 2-1 success away to Italy, with City's James Maddison unused from the bench in Naples.
Declan Rice gave the Three Lions a goalscoring start before Harry Kane dispatched a penalty to become his country's all-time leading goalscorer, surpassing Wayne Rooney. A second-half reply from Mateo Retegui wasn't enough, with England getting over the line despite a late Luke Shaw dismissal.
Maddison will be hoping to be involved on Sunday when England host Ukraine at Wembley in a 5pm BST kick-off.
On Tuesday evening, Ben Nelson played the full 90 minutes for England Under-19s as they earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over Hungary in Walsall.
The defender, currently on loan at Doncaster Rovers, helped the Young Lions to a clean sheet and played a key part in assuring the victory with a late clearance off the line. The result means the side got their UEFA EURO U19 qualification campaign off to a perfect start.
