Leicester City’s Development Squad stepped up preparations for the HKFC Citi Soccer Sevens tournament with a friendly against local opposition.

- Leicester City’s Under-21s have played their first short game in Hong Kong
- The squad are preparing for HKFC Citi Soccer Sevens
- The friendly against Chun Fung FC finished 2-1 at HKFC
- Kian Pennant and Tawanda Maswanhise scored for the Foxes

Having landed in Hong Kong on Wednesday, the players have begun becoming accustomed to their new surroundings, with two days to go until the competition begins, when they will be taking on Newcastle United, Hong Kong Football Club and HKFC Captain’s Select in Group C.

Ahead of the big kick-off on Saturday, when fixtures will be two seven-minute halves, the team got a feel for the pitch at HKFC in a practice game, played out below scenic views of the Hong Kong skyline on Thursday morning.

Resources Capital Football Club, also known as Chun Fung in Hong Kong, finished eighth in the 10-team Hong Kong Premier League this season and provided the first test of the East Asia trip for City’s Under-21s.

Kian Pennant opened the scoring in the first half, before Tawanda Maswanhise added a second for the Foxes. Chun Fung then grabbed a consolation late on, providing a strong start in humid conditions.

Wanya Marcal-Madivadua moves forward with the ball.

With the game made up of four quarters of seven minutes each, there was plenty of time on the artificial surface, allowing all 11 squad members to put minutes in the tank.

LCFC.com and @LCFC’s social media channels will continue to bring updates from the tournament throughout this week.
