Souttar's Australia Lose Out To The World Champions

Harry Souttar played 90 minutes for Australia in a 2-0 friendly defeat to Argentina on Thursday afternoon.

Playing in a one-off international friendly exhibition at Workers' Stadium in China's capital Beijing, the Leicester City centre-back came up against a star-studded Argentina line-up that included Lionel Messi, who scored inside the opening two minutes. 

Argentina captain Lionel Messi scored early on in the contest.

A second Argentina goal in the second half, from Germán Pezzella, wrapped up victory for the 2022 FIFA World Cup winners, who lifted the coveted prize in Qatar in November last year. 

The Socceroos will next be in action on 13 October 2023, facing England in a friendly at Wembley Stadium.
