Stephy Mavididi became Leicester City’s latest summer signing this week, with the forward signing a five-year deal at the Club.

A somewhat varied career has seen the Derby-born attacker play in England, Italy and France, before deciding to make his return to the Midlands, forming part of Enzo Maresca’s new-look Leicester side.

A product of Arsenal’s academy, after beginning his youth career at Southend United, Mavididi signed a professional contract with the Gunners in 2015 and gained Football League experience via loan spells at Charlton Athletic and Preston North End.

A loan spell at Preston North End was Mavididi's last stint in the Championship.

Formerly an England youth international, the forward played at various age groups from Under-17s to Under-20s, making his mark as an exciting young prospect with an eye for goal.

Joining League 1 Charlton on a short-term deal in January 2017, his subsequent spell at Preston North End saw Mavididi get his first taste of Championship football, before ending the 2017/18 season back with the Addicks.

Juventus was his next destination, signing permanently for the Italian giants, in 2018. Across a two-year stint at the Old Lady, Mavididi moved into the senior set-up, making his Serie A debut the following year, as Juve claimed the league title.

Coming through the ranks with England, the forward played for the Under-20s side.

Making the move across Europe to France, the 2019/20 season was spent on loan at Dijon, where the now-25-year-old scored five Ligue 1 goals. That experience in the country helped him to hit the ground running when joining Montpellier in the summer of 2020.

Mavididi proved a big hit in Occitania, managing 21 league strikes during his time at La Paillade and making a total of 98 appearances across all competitions.

After becoming the most-capped English player in Ligue 1 history, Mavididi is now looking to make an immediate impact with his new side.
