An exciting winger, Yunus Akgün joins the Foxes as Leicester City’s seventh signing of summer.

A capped international with his native Turkey, the 23-year-old arrives from Süper Lig title holders Galatasaray, where he has spent the majority of his career after coming through the ranks at the Istanbul giants.

Born in Küçükçekmece, Akgün joined his boyhood club in 2011, making his senior bow seven years later, having appeared for both the Under-19s and Under-21s.

That maiden first team appearance in the 2018 Turkish Super Cup fixture was followed, five months later, by scoring a hat-trick during a Turkish Cup victory. His first Süper Lig goal, meanwhile, arrived in July 2020.

Akgün has spent the majority of his career playing for Galatasaray.

That impact led to two loan spells at Adana Demirspor, with further showings of his potential across 70 matches, contributing 16 goals and 20 assists to help steer the Adana club to promotion into the Turkish top-flight - and a ninth place finish in Süper Lig at the end of 2021/22.

Back at Galatasaray last term, The Lions claimed the league trophy for the first time since 2019. Akgun had played a minor role back then, but was much more prominent, playing 25 times.

With additional UEFA Champions League experience on the attacker’s CV, and five international caps to his name, including a debut against Faroe Islands in June 2022, Akgün will be hoping to hit the ground running as a Foxes player.

Bolstering City’s attacking options, Enzo Maresca continues to shape his new-look Leicester side.
