The midfielder started the game at Slokas Stadium as Carmine Nunziata's side got their UEFA EURO U21 qualification campaign up and running.
It remained goalless, though, despite Gli Azzurri having 23 shots on goal, to Latvia's four. It leaves Italy's youngsters third in Group A at this early stage of the qualifiers, on one point, while Latvia top the pool having taken four points from two matches.
Norway, Republic of Ireland, San Marino and Turkey are the other countries who make up Group A and Italy's next fixture comes against Turkey next Tuesday - a 5:30pm kick-off at Kocaeli Stadium, when Casadei will be hoping for more game time.
