- A feature interview with Sammy Braybrooke and Will Alves reveals how they are handling their comeback
- The Leicester City Development Squad pair have both suffered ACL injuries in the past year
- There is light at the end of the tunnel, Braybrooke believes, while Alves thanked his team-mates for their support
The Leicester City duo have spent months out of action since both suffering anterior cruciate ligament damage, but are now on the road to recovery and on the training pitch in Seagrave together.
A return is on the horizon and, after completing some more individual fitness work and ball drills, they gave some insight into what the last year or so has involved and how it feels to be moving closer towards being back playing.
"It's good to finally be able to get on the ball," Braybrooke revealed. "You're always in the gym, it's like you'll never know when you're going to touch a football again.
"It seems like a long time ago, and you don't know what you're going feel like. But once you're out there, you get back into the swing of things. You can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
"I think it's more of a mental battle than a physical battle; your body can actually do it, but it's more mentally. After you get over the confidence barrier of doing things for the first time, you feel normal."
The 19-year-old picked up his injury while playing for the Development Squad in a Premier League 2 match at Brighton & Hove Albion in January, with Alves out since an FA Youth Cup match at Wolverhampton Wanderers just over a month earlier.
Completing their rehabilitation as a pair has been a huge positive for both, as Alves explained, also praising the wider group.
"It's obvious none of us want to be injured, but there's quite a good group of lads in there," the 18-year-old commented. "And they've definitely made it a lot easier.
"Some days you come and you don't want to do things and it's definitely a lot better being able to still keep in contact with other team-mates and talk to them as well. Just being able to do what we love again, it's great."
