Leicester City centre-back Conor Coady is edging closer to being in contention for a starting spot, Enzo Maresca revealed on Friday.

- Leicester City face Bristol City in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday
- Manager Enzo Maresca shared a fitness update with the media
- Defender Conor Coady is moving towards being available to feature
- There are no new injury concerns in the squad, the Italian confirmed

The defender is yet to make a competitive appearance for the Foxes after picking up a foot injury in pre-season, but has now resumed full training and did have a place on the bench for the recent away victories at Southampton and Norwich City.

City’s Manager was speaking in his pre-match press conference prior to facing Bristol City in the Sky Bet Championship this Saturday - a 3pm BST kick-off at King Power Stadium.

The target is to bring him step by step slowly and don’t take any risks, to give him the chance to be 100 per cent.

Enzo Maresca on Conor Coady

"He (Coady) is getting better,” the Italian stated to the media. "Day by day, he’s getting better. It’s been eight or nine weeks, so it has been a long injury for him, and we are going to try step by step to bring him up to 100 per cent.

“He could [play]. But at the same time, it could be a risk because after eight or nine weeks, it’s not safe, so the target is to bring him step by step slowly and don’t take any risks, to give him the chance and the opportunity to be at 100 per cent.”

There are no fresh concerns ahead of the visit of the Robins, though Dennis Praet and Tom Cannon remain on the sidelined through injury.

“Yes, all of [the rest] are fine and available for tomorrow,” the 43-year-old added.
