Leicester City's Development Squad suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Middlesbrough Under-21s on Monday night.

Following a tough evening in the EFL Trophy, the young Foxes returned to Premier League 2 action this week, facing Boro at LCFC Training Ground. The visitors claimed all three points in Seagrave, with Callum Kavanagh opening the scoring inside 20 minutes, his fifth of the Teesiders' campaign.

It stayed that way at the interval, before the away side doubled their lead via a Ben Nelson own goal less than 10 minutes into the second half. Max Howells' strike then found a way past Brad Young, all-but sealing victory for Mark Tinkler's team.

It was the 18-year-old's second Premier League 2 goal of the season so far.

City forward Amani Richards continued his fine form in front of goal with a late consolation, but there wasn't enough time to spark a Foxes comeback, leaving Leicester 24th in PL2, with three points from their opening five matches in the division.

It's a quick turnaround for the side coached by Ben Petty, who now turn attention to tackling Fulham at Motspur Park this Friday (7pm BST kick-off).
