- Amani Richards spoke of the need to return to winning ways
- The forward scored in Monday’s defeat to Middlesbrough

The young Foxes head into Friday evening’s Premier League 2 match-up against Fulham without a win since the opening day of the season, with a 3-1 reverse at home to Middlesbrough last time out their sixth straight defeat in all competitions.

The trip to west London, a 7pm kick-off at Motspur Park, provides an opportunity to press the reset button, however, with just four days between the fixtures.

“It's definitely a tough one to take,” Richards admitted in his post-match assessment of Monday’s defeat. “I think everyone's really disappointed, but there's definitely positives to take. Even in the later stages of this game, I think we actually did play a lot of good attacking football.

“We're just in a place at the moment where things are not really going well, so it's just about getting together and trying to bounce back. We need to take away the positives and keep going.”

The former Arsenal youngster scored Leicester’s goal against the Tessiders, his fifth goal contribution in City’s opening five PL2 games of 2023/24. It’s a record which may be pleasing on a personal level, but the aim of assisting the team in turning current form around is also a clear target for the upcoming weeks, whichever attacking role he is asked to play in.

The 18-year-old forward explained: “To be fair, I don't mind playing either, but I prefer playing out wide on the wing, so I think that's better for me. I like to face people up and go one against one, that's my game, that's what gets people on their feet. So that's what I like to do.

“The first couple I should have taken him on a bit earlier, but this one (for the goal), I got in front of him and then eventually got the shot away so I'm really happy with it. It's a really hard finish to take on. I've just got to hit the goal, and make sure I hit it with speed. That was that the idea behind it.

“I’m pretty pleased individually. I'm just doing what I can try to help out the team as much as possible. But right now, it's just about getting the team back together and just going again on Friday.”
