Goalscorer Silko Thomas came away delighted after helping Leicester City’s Development Squad to a 3-1 success over Fulham on Friday.

- Leicester City’s Development Squad defeated Fulham 3-1 at Motspur Park
- Friday’s evening victory was the young Foxes’ first away win in PL2 this term
- Silko Thomas was on the scoresheet alongside Wanya Marçal and Kian Pennant
- The midfielder said it had been a tough few weeks but the squad remained together

The young Foxes raced into a two-goal lead inside the opening 10 minutes courtesy of strikes from Wanya Marçal and Thomas, before Jonathan Esenga halved the deficit. A late Kian Pennant goal ensured City would be taking all three points, securing a first away triumph of the 2023/24 Premier League 2 campaign.

We stayed together, stuck together, we put in the work and there you go, you see that on the field.

Following four straight league defeats, Thomas admitted it was a weight off the players’ shoulders to claim victory in the capital, against a side who had won all five of their PL2 matches prior to this one.

“Obviously coming here, it isn't easy to win, it was never going to be easy, but it's been a long time coming,” the midfielder commented in his post-match assessment of the victory in west London. “The boys worked hard and we definitely deserve the win. It was very good.

“From the start of the season, we haven't been doing too well, but we stayed together, stuck together, we put in the work and there you go, you see that on the field.”

Leicester are heading straight back to Motspur Park this Friday, facing the Cottagers again, this time in the Premier League Cup. The 19-year-old believes they will take plenty of confidence into that game, their second in Group G, which also contains Brentford and Burnley.

“We’re definitely looking forward to coming back here,” he added. “The boys are all geared up and ready for it. We'll take this in first and then worry about that nearer to the time.”
