Following the game, Petty spoke to Foxes Hub and was frustrated with the scoreline, given the fact that Leicester were the better side according to the stats at least.
“I’m very disappointed to lose the game,” the coach stated. “I don’t quite know how we’ve lost the game. We had 70 per cent possession, 20 shots, with most on target – the stats are incredible.
“I can’t ask anymore of the players. We’ve played very well tonight and I think most people that were here watching would leave saying Leicester are a very good side.
“We have to be more clinical; we had four strikers on the pitch by the end and we have to find a way through. To be fair to Brentford, they defended really well and put a block on.
“It was difficult to play through, and it was difficult to find a way through, but I’m proud of the team for their second-half display.”
Petty went on to say that the Foxes had their chances to win the game, but failure to take them and an impressive late display from a battling Bees side was enough to hold off their advances.
He continued: “We’ve missed some clear-cut chances in the second half that the ‘keeper shouldn’t be getting anywhere near, but he was outstanding and deserved the Man of the Match award.
“If we had won the game by three or four goals, I don’t think anyone watching would’ve thought that was an unfair scoreline.
“We switched off at the back post for their goal; that’s a big learning point for Amani [Richards], who I thought had a good game tonight, but he’s got to do his out of possession work better. He got beat by his man and they scored what was basically their only chance of the game
“The three games we’ve got left does make it a challenge, but we are capable of winning all three and, with two home games, it is a challenge but still possible.”
