- LCFC Women were defeated 3-1 by Manchester United on Thursday evening
- Midfielder Josie Green gave her assessment of a difficult evening for the Foxes
- City have five points from three games in the Continental Tyres League Cup group stage
Leicester were handed their first League Cup defeat of the season when they were dispatched by a Man Utd side who were late comers to the competition after falling out of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Still in the race for a potential qualification spot in Group B, Green acknowledged that they must now pick themselves up and not focus too much on the midweek loss.
“It’s never nice to lose, but to get one back before half-time gave us a chance” she explained. “It’s a disappointing one but we’ll pick ourselves back up for Sunday now.
“We had some good spells and took the game to them by applying pressure either side of the break so there are positives to take based on parts of the performance in there.”
Transformed from a central midfielder to a defender, the former Tottenham Hotspur player is embracing the challenge and starting to feel more comfortable in her new role.
Always happy to help her team-mates in any way she can, she is part of a team that is starting to form good partnerships. Better things are to come from the Foxes, the 30-year-old assured.
“I’m embracing the challenge of being in the backline,” the Wales international continued. “I like new challenges and the opportunity to learn so it’s a lot to process for me but as long as I can help the team in any way I can then I’m happy.
“You can get on the ball a lot more as a centre-back and that’s something I like to do, and it’s something I’m learning more about the role all the time but I’m enjoying the chance to be playing and helping my team-mates.”
