Jannik Vestergaard assured that Leicester City will not look too far ahead as they prepare to enter a busy festive period in the Sky Bet Championship.

- Birmingham City are Leicester City’s next Sky Bet Championship opponents on Monday evening
- It’s an 8pm kick-off at St. Andrew's Stadium with Foxes Hub coverage available from 7pm

- Jannik Vestergaard looked ahead to facing the Blues while also reflecting on recent home victories
- The Foxes have defeated both Plymouth Argyle and Millwall on Filbert Way over the past week

A 17th win of the campaign on Wednesday saw Millwall dispatched 3-2 in an entertaining encounter at King Power Stadium, securing back-to-back home victories for Enzo Maresca’s men in the space of four days.

Firstly reflecting on that result, which moved the Foxes back to the top of the table, the defender was pleased to contribute with a goal – his first on home soil and second this term.

“We have a lot of confidence,” the Dane said. “We’ve deserved that, we’ve worked hard for that. But I think we’re also very humble, knowing that every game is tough and even in a game like that where I think we were the better team, games are close, games are tight.

“I do think we started really well and I don’t think we deserved to go behind. But we did and we coped with it very well, going behind but sticking together and playing fast-paced football, trying to open up a defence that most of the time had six or seven in the backline.

“We continued playing, we pushed, we kept the ball in play. When it went out, we got it back in to play quickly. We had the belief that if we kept stressing the opponent, we would benefit from it and we were right.

“I’ve been very close in many games and it’s ironic that I scored this one and it wasn’t really a chance. I’ve had a couple of big ones and there’s been some good saves in recent games, so I’m happy to score even though it’s with the shoulder. I always go in when I go forward and have the belief to score.”

A trip to St. Andrew’s Stadium is up next for the Foxes on Monday (8pm kick-off), and although the Blues have struggled recently, they did come away from Cardiff City Stadium with a positive result in midweek. The 29-year-old knows that it won’t be straightforward against Wayne Rooney’s side.

“They won on Wednesday night so they will be going into the game with confidence as well,” he added. “I expect a difficult game. They are going to be fired up playing at home in front of their own fans. As every game has been this season, it’s going to be another challenge.

Obviously, there’s an end goal but we know games like these count just as much as the games against the other teams at the top.

“It’s difficult to win games and our ambition is to win every game that we take part in so it’s a challenge and we look forward to it. There’s so many games in the Championship, which is quite enjoyable, but there’s no regular week.

“’I’m enjoying the whole season so far, it’s very competitive. I’m enjoying the way we’re playing, the style of play. I like the look of our team and I do think we’re presenting ourselves as a team.

“It’s cliché, but we’re thinking one game at a time. There are so many games and we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves. Obviously, there’s an end goal but we know games like these count just as much as the games against the other teams at the top.

“Every game is important and that’s our focus. We can hopefully celebrate the end goal at the end of the season.”
