Patson Daka started Zambia's 1-1 draw with Democratic Republic of the Congo to open their Africa Cup of Nations campaign on Wednesday.

- Patson Daka registers an assist for Zambia in a 1-1 draw with DR Congo
- The opening AFCON fixture leaves the Copper Bullets third in Group F
- Zambia play Tanzania next on Sunday afternoon (5pm kick-off)

The Leicester City forward had a hand in the opening goal of the tournament for the Copper Bullets at Stade Laurent Pokou, taking a quick throw-in which allowed Kings Kangwa to edge his side ahead on 23 minutes.

It took DR Congo just four minutes to find an equaliser, however, with Brentford forward Yoane Wissa on the end of Cedric Bakambu's cross. That's how it stayed in San-Pedro, with both sides opening their tournament with a point in Group F.

Though it could have been different had a 60th-minute penalty for Congo, originally awarded for handball and then overturned by VAR, stood. The result leaves Zambia in third position at this early stage, two points behind leaders Morocco.

Daka played throughout the contest and will be hoping for more minutes in Zambia's second group fixture, against Tanzania on Sunday (5pm kick-off).
