- HKFC Soccer Sevens returns to Hong Kong in May
- Leicester City’s Under-21s will compete in Group D
- The Foxes have been drawn alongside Newcastle United
- It’s the 25th anniversary of the annual seven-a-side tournament
The annual seven-a-side competition, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, features Under-21s teams from Premier League 2, as well as a host of local sides from across Southeast Asia. Staged at the picturesque Hong Kong Football Club, it is set to take place between 24-26 May.
The draw has now been made for this year’s edition, with the Foxes youngsters drawn in Group D, alongside fellow PL2 outfit Newcastle United for the second season running, as well as Tai Po FC of the Hong Kong Premier League and Singapore Cricket Club.
Five other British clubs make up the draw, with 16 teams in total taking part in the main tournament group stage. Aston Villa and West Ham United will both compete in Group A, while Brighton & Hove Albion are in Group B and both Fulham and Rangers form half of Group C.
Two-time winners Leicester reached the quarter-finals last year, winning two of their three group games, including success over the Magpies, to top the group, before losing out in the last-eight. Moved into the Shield competition, the Foxes were beaten finalists.
