Leicester City loanee Abdul Fatawu scored his second international goal for Ghana on Monday night.

- Abdul Fatawu scored in Ghana's 4-3 victory over Central African Republic on Monday
- It's a win which keeps the Black Stars top of their FIFA World Cup qualifying group
- Wilfred Ndidi was skipper as Nigeria were beaten 2-1 by Benin

Fatawu, who helped City to lift the Sky Bet Championship title in 2023/24, was on the scoresheet for the Black Stars in a 4-3 victory over Central African Republic in CAF qualifying for the FIFA World Cup.

A hat-trick from Jordan Ayew was the catalyst for Otto Addo's men, although another three goals from Louis Mafouta made things difficult for the Group I leaders in Kumasi. Ghana lead the way with nine points from a possible 12.

Elsewhere, midfielder Wilfred Ndidi was handed the captaincy as Nigeria fell to a 2-1 reverse to Benin in the Ivory Coast. Raphael Onyedika's opener was overturned by Jodel Dossou and Steve Mounie to hand the Super Eagles defeat.

Nigeria are currently fifth in Group C with three points taken from four matches. Finally, also on Monday, Yunus Akgün, on loan from Galatasaray, was an unused substitute in Turkey's 2-1 friendly defeat by Poland.
