‘Anticipation Building’ - Howard & Momiki React To Fixture Release

The countdown to the start of the new Barclays Women’s Super League season is now on, following the release of the 2024/25 fixtures earlier this week.

- LCFC Women are to begin 2024/25 with an away fixture at Liverpool in September
- Arsenal will provide the Foxes’ first test on home soil in this season’s Barclays WSL
- Sophie Howard and Yuka Momiki have given their thoughts on the new season

Speaking following the announcement of who the Foxes will face in the opening weeks, with a trip to Liverpool first during the weekend of 21/22 September, followed by welcoming Arsenal to Filbert Way a week later, Sophie Howard discussed her eagerness to return to action in front of the Blue Army and play under new Manager Amandine Miquel.

The Scotland defender commented: "Anticipation for the new season has already begun to build and fixture release day adds to that excitement for us as players.

“Arsenal in our first home fixture following Liverpool away will be a fantastic way to open the new season at King Power Stadium.

I’m excited to step out onto the grass at King Power Stadium against Arsenal.

“We know the fans will come out in their numbers to support us on the day and hopefully we can create some more wonderful memories together."

Yuka Momiki also shared her thoughts ahead of what will be a first full campaign playing in the WSL for the Japanese attacker, who gave a special mention to the Foxes fans for their support.

"I am really looking forward to the new season starting and being able to play in front of our supporters again,” she revealed. “The fixtures being released is an indication that the new season is just around the corner.

“I’m excited to step out onto the grass at King Power Stadium against Arsenal in September. Liverpool away in the opening game will also be a good challenge for our team but is a task we will approach head on."
