San Diego, California as they clinched promotion to the Premier League three years ago. Diagnosed during a 13-match winless run for Leicester, he continued to follow the Club's progress 5,000 miles away in America.
Once City's Premier League survival had been secured with seven wins from their final nine games, Travis had been confirmed as cancer-free. As he continues to await the final all-clear in February 2018, Travis watched on delightedly as the Club shocked the world again last season to lift the Premier League title for the first time.
But the Club had one more surprise in store for him. Upon arrival, Johanna Agueda from the CW Fund broke the news that he would also be an official mascot for the clash – meeting the players in the changing room, including his idol Riyad Mahrez, and having a kick-about with Filbert Fox.
Before watching the Foxes secure a sixth consecutive victory in all competitions, courtesy of second half goals from Islam Slimani and Jamie Vardy, Travis told LCFC TV: “This is amazing what is happening, how is this possible? I can’t believe it. This is awesome! I never thought it was possible, I always watch them on TV but it’s amazing that I am here.
Dad Tim said: “I’m very proud of him throughout his whole ordeal. He has been supporting the team since before he got sick. It’s hard to believe that we’re actually here. He is super excited. We hope he stays that way until next February which is when he gets the all-clear and we can put it all in the rear-view mirror.
“We’re quite recent to supporting Leicester City. We can’t claim to go back as far as the League 1 season. But we both watched the 5-3 game [against Manchester United in 2014/15] and we looked at each other and said ‘who wants to support one of the big six clubs? These guys need our love’. And it was easy to give because that particular win was a bit of a swashbuckler."
The CW Fund works tirelessly in America to improve the lives of children and young adults diagnosed with cancer and other serious conditions by providing once-in-a-lifetime opportunities such as this.
Since 2010, honourees have travelled to South Africa, Barcelona, Milan, New York and Brazil, attending high-profile sporting events including the FIFA World Cup and UEFA Champions League finals. For Travis, however, a trip to see Leicester City live at King Power Stadium was top of his wish list.
CW Fund director Johanna added: “We were started in 2009 and we send children and young adults to see soccer matches around the world. Travis is our 13th honouree. We’ve been to two World Cups and Champions League final matches – and now we’re at Leicester City.
"Travis is a quintessential honouree for us. He is a die-hard fan and knows everything about the players. Leicester City should be proud to have such a fantastic fan almost 5,000 miles away.”
