Craig Shakespeare says there is still work to do for his Leicester City squad after they confirmed their Premier League status with a on Saturday afternoon.
Wilfred Ndidi, Riyad Mahrez and Marc Albrighton struck for the Foxes as they climbed back into the top half of the table with three games to play. Shakespeare has since called upon his players to continue in the same manner ahead of clashes with Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth.
Addressing the media at King Power Stadium, the City boss said: “I’ve said all along that we had to try and secure safety. There is always going to be a sigh of a relief. I was never going to be committed to saying we were safe until mathematically we were because, we all know, things can change quickly.
“You’re always aware of the pitfalls that can happen so it’s nice for everyone at the Football Club to just breathe a bit easier. As an assistant, you can switch off a bit more. As a manager, it encompasses a lot more. It’s something I was aware of coming into it. It’s a mini season of 12 games for us.
Previewing City’s final three matches, Shakespeare added: “We’ve got some tough games coming our way. We’ve got two of them at home and our record here is very, very good. We try to win every game.
"Of course, it will be tough at Man City. That game last season [a 3-1 success for Leicester] was the one where we thought we could do something and, of course, we won the league.”
