Jamie Vardy says Leicester City will do everything in their power to beat an impressive Tottenham Hotspur outfit at King Power Stadium on Thursday night.

The match may well evoke last season’s fierce rivalry between the 2015/16 Premier League champions and Mauricio Pochettino’s men, who pushed the Foxes all the way in the race for the title and eventually finished third.

But Vardy insisted that his side are only concentrated on in order to strengthen their bid for a top-half finish.

“To us, it’s another game that we want to go out in front of the fans and try and get three points from,” said Vardy. “It’s just the next game that we want to get points in to move us up the league slightly.

“Hopefully at the end of the season that’s where we’ll finish, around mid-table. Come the game, we’ll be raring to go and we’ll do everything to get those three points.

We can beat them if we’re at our best so Thursday will be an entertaining game.

“We just need to try and pick up as many points as possible. If we get those six points then we’re guaranteed a top-half finish.

“We want to finish as high as we can, just to show that the start of the season wasn’t how we wanted it to pan out. That’s the way it goes, that’s football, but we’ve turned it round and I think if we finish mid-table then all in all, it’s been a good season.”

Spurs have already guaranteed a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League thanks to securing second place behind champions Chelsea and Vardy is well aware of how dangerous Pochettino’s outfit can be.

He added: “They’re a great side and they’ve got great players. We know it’s going to be tough but we also know that on our day we can give every single team a good game.

“We can beat them if we’re at our best so Thursday will be an entertaining game.”
