Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy was satisfied with his display after scoring England’s second goal against Lithuania at Wembley to put Gareth Southgate’s men four points clear at the top of Group F.
The Foxes front man replaced opening goalscorer Jermain Defoe on the hour-mark in London and following just six minutes on Sunday after hitting four goals in five matches for the Club.
Vardy returns to the East Midlands this week as City prepare to welcome Stoke City and Sunderland to King Power Stadium over just four days and the 30-year-old says he has concluded the international break in high spirits.
“It was my first couple of touches and I just finished off a good move and a good layoff from Adam [Lallana]," Vardy said, following the 2-0 victory. “The manager just wanted me to break the lines and keep forcing them back so we could keep getting the ball in the pockets. It managed to work for us.
“Sides are going to come and sit back and it is up to us to break them down. We have done that twice. The most important thing was getting the win and it keeps us progressing to where we want to be.”
