The Premier League clash with Forest was the Club’s annual Remembrance Fixture, commemorating the sacrifices of servicemen and women in conflicts past and present.

As a symbol of respect, City’s players wore shirts featuring an emblem of the poppy, and did so again for the away fixtures against Ipswich Town and Manchester United respectively.

Likewise, LCFC Women's Barclays Women's Super League encounter with West Ham United saw players wear a poppy emblem on their shirts, with these then signed and made available to own via auction, exclusively on the MatchWornShirt website and app. All net proceeds will be allocated to The Royal British Legion.

Supporters also had the opportunity to get their hands on a squad-signed shirt, offered in a special giveaway at MatchWornShirt. This was free to enter until Monday 11 November. This is the sixth year MatchWornShirt have teamed up with The Royal British Legion, having previously raised close to £3m for The Poppy Appeal.

The Poppy Appeal took place from Thursday 24 October to Remembrance Sunday on 10 November; every year the RBL leads the nation in Remembrance to honour the contribution of our Armed Forces community, past and present.

Since it was first worn as an act of Remembrance just over 100 years ago, the red poppy has become an enduring symbol of support for our Armed Forces. This year’s appeal highlights the mental scars linked to military service.

Every donation to The Poppy Appeal provides support to the Armed Forces community and ensures their unique contribution is never forgotten.

To help The Royal British Legion continue its vital work, head to MatchWornShirt’s website and get involved in one of the many auctions for this year’s Poppy Appeal.
