- Awards evening to take place in early December

The UK Coaching Awards are designed to celebrate members of the coaching community that create the most unforgettable moments, bring people together and show everyone the true spirit and power of sport and physical activity.

Aura embodies this with her passion for supporting people of all backgrounds and abilities to participate in sport and maintain regular levels of activity - but there is much more to it than that.

Having joined Leicester City in the Community in January 2022, following taking on her role as a Community Activator Coach at Leicestershire County Cricket Club, Aura has gone on to make a huge difference in the charity’s activities.

It’s surreal to be nominated. I’m so glad that the work we’re doing is making an impact.

Her inclusive Leicester City in the Community sessions foster a sense of belonging among members of ethnically diverse communities, breaking down barriers, increasing levels of confidence and enabling people to overcome barriers to participation and realise their potential. She also leads sessions specifically designed for women as part of the Active Women team.

“It’s surreal to be nominated,” Aura said after hearing the news. “I’m so glad that the work we’re doing is making an impact.”

Aura moved to the UK from Venezuela in 2008 and has since developed a holistic approach to coaching that has made her a role model for people settling into new cultures where the primary language may not be their own. She is often credited by participants for making them feel welcome, confident and socially connected, as well as improving their physical activity.

The category, Community Coach of the Year – Adults, is supported by Sport England, and 'recognises a coach’s outstanding contribution to their community, whether they have helped people take part more regularly or start participating in sport and physical activity'.

The announcement of Aura’s nomination on Tuesday is a testament to her hard work and dedication to Leicester and its community. We wish her every success at the awards evening in early December.
