Inspired by the rich cultural heritage of Nan Province in northern Thailand, King Power’s latest CSR project combines the intricate artistry of traditional hand-woven fabrics with modern sportswear design. Developed under the Thai Power initiative, it honours a craft that has flourished in the region for over a century and supports the talented artisans of the Ban Chiang Rai Career Development Community Enterprise.
A Unique Collaboration
The Northern Wild, Northern Life Collection is a fusion of tradition and innovation. Designed by Multiply by Eight in collaboration with Ban Chiang Rai’s skilled artisans, the range draws inspiration from the northern Thai landscape and Leicester City’s enduring spirit.
Featuring bespoke patterns of foxes in pursuit of a football – symbolising the Club’s motto, “Foxes Never Quit” – the collection blends the resilience of LCFC with the timeless beauty of Nan’s hand-woven textiles.
Using a meticulous four-heddle weaving technique, the artisans incorporated traditional fishbone and Ta Kong patterns in four symbolic colours:
- Blue: flowing streams
- Grey: family unity
- White: purity of love
- Green: abundance
The collection includes ten standout pieces, from limited-edition jackets (just 500 of which are available worldwide) to tees, bucket hats and tote bags. Each item embodies the perfect balance of tradition and contemporary design.
A Commitment to Community & Sustainability
King Power CEO and LCFC Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha shared the vision behind the project: “Through our Thai Power initiative, we aim to empower Thai communities by showcasing their incredible talents on the global stage. This collection is a testament to the dedication and creativity of the Ban Chiang Rai artisans, and it reflects our commitment to preserving cultural heritage while supporting sustainable, community-driven growth.”
The project represents the seventh annual collection under the Thai Power programme, reinforcing King Power’s commitment to promoting local crafts and strengthening rural economies.
Ms. Puangtong Suthijinda, Sales Secretary of Ban Chiang Rai Career Development Community Enterprise, also explained the significance of the collaboration: “This collection required months of intricate work, introducing new patterns and techniques that we are incredibly proud of. It has given us an opportunity to share Nan’s rich heritage with the world.”
