- Shakespeare says his sole focus is to prepare the Club’s players for the fixture
Caretaker manager Craig Shakespeare says his only concentration lies firmly on preparing the Leicester City squad for .
Friday’s pre-match press conference was dominated with talk about the , but Shakespeare made perfectly clear his and Mike Stowell's focus.
Shakespeare says he will address City’s first-team players when they return to training on Saturday morning, as he readies them for a clash against Jurgen Klopp’s high-flying Reds, with the Foxes looking to turn around a recent run of poor Premier League form.
“My remit is to get the players fit and ready for the Liverpool game,” Shakespeare told the media ahead of Monday’s encounter with Liverpool.
“We need to make sure that we get back to winning ways. How we do that, again, I will address the players in the morning.
“Our focus must be on getting three points on Monday night.”
Shakespeare believes restoring confidence in the squad will be another priority of his and knows a positive result against Liverpool could do just that.
He added: “Confidence can go very quickly but it can come back very quickly. My aim is to try to restore that very quickly.
“I’ve had experience as a player and experience as a coach and again, players experience lots of lows and highs and we have to make sure that they’re focused and ready for Monday’s game.”
