- Pep Guardiola’s side come to King Power Stadium for the Saturday’s Premier League clash
- Albrighton says the Foxes must become much harder to beat if they are to improve their form
Marc Albrighton has called on Leicester City to react to their defeat to FC Porto by becoming much harder to beat, starting against Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday.
A much-changed Foxes outfit were beaten 5-0 in their final UEFA Champions League group fixture on Wednesday evening and are now preparing for an equally as tough clash with Pep Guardiola’s high-flying outfit.
For Albrighton, it is the perfect opportunity to put things right on the domestic front, but to do so, the winger says his side must be much more difficult to break down.
Albrighton told LCFC TV: “I think the result against Man City is obviously the main thing. We’re in a position now where we need points and the result is massive.
“We need to show a reaction with a good performance by fighting all over the pitch. We need to get that hunger back and make a statement to people to show that we care. We need to put it right.
“We need to get in their faces and be organised. We need to be harder to beat and harder to break down because it’s too easy at the moment.
“We’re letting teams get through us, but last year that wasn’t happening. We were tough to beat and break down and we need to get back to that.”
While Man City top scorer Sergio Aguero and combative midfielder Fernandinho are suspended for Saturday’s encounter, Albrighton knows the title-chasing outfit still have plenty of pedigree up front.
He continued: “They’re obviously fantastic going forward and we can get them as well at the back. It’s going to be an attacking match with their flare up top.
“We’ve got to be on our game to stop that, but going the other way I think we’re capable because we’ve got the players to be able to break them down and create a few chances of our own.
“They’ve obviously got some fantastic players that they’ve brought in and spent a lot of money on. They’re world-class players, so we’ve got to be at the top of our game to be able to stop them. Anything less than that, we’ll come unstuck.”
