Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri will check on the fitness of Kasper Schmeichel and Danny Drinkwater ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Stoke City.
Schmeichel has not featured since early November after fracturing his hand during the UEFA Champions League fixture at FC Copenhagen.
But the stopper has trained well this week and could be in contention to face the Potters, according to the City boss.
“Kasper Schmeichel trained very well today (Thursday) so I’ll check tomorrow,” Ranieri told the media ahead of Saturday’s clash.
“The goalkeeper isn’t so different because he has to understand the line of the ball and reactions.
“Kasper is training very well and feels good. Today he made a little game between us. I want to see the reaction tomorrow but the hand is okay.”
Meanwhile, Drinkwater will also be assessed as he attempts to shake off a knee problem he picked up against FC Porto.
The City boss added: “I’ll also check Drinkwater tomorrow. He has a little problem with his knee from a kick in Porto. He tried to continue then he asked me to change.
“Without him we lose something but [Andy] King and [Daniel] Amartey are working so hard to do good things.
“Also [Nampalys] Mendy is getting better training after training and then I have to choose the best solution.”
