- Bartosz Kapustka featured as a late substitute in Poland’s win over Armenia
- Daniel Amartey notched up 90 minutes for Ghana, who drew 1-1 with South Africa in an international friendly
Leicester City’s involvement in the latest international break came to an end on Tuesday, when six of the Club’s stars saw action for their nations.
City stopper Kasper Schmeichel notched up another 90 minutes for Denmark, who were edged 1-0 by Montenegro in 2018 World Cup qualifying Group E.
The Danes were aiming to bounce back from their narrow defeat to Poland last time out, but Fatos Bećiraj’s first-half strike proved to be enough for Montenegro to earn all three points in Copenhagen.
Another Fox in World Cup qualifying action was young winger Bartosz Kapustka, who came on with 20 minutes to play to help Poland earn a late win over Armenia.
With the scores level at 1-1 in injury time, Robert Lewandowski fired in a 95th-minute winner to earn three valuable qualifying points for Kapustka’s nation.
Meanwhile, Shinji Okazaki was an unused substitute for Japan, who recorded a 1-1 draw against Australia in 2018 World Cup qualifying.
Genki Haraguchi opened the scoring for Okazaki’s nation, but Mile Jedinak replied from the spot in the second period to ensure the spoils were shared in Melbourne.
Fellow City frontman Jamie Vardy was also unused from the bench, as England drew 0-0 with Slovenia in Ljubljana.
The result saw the Three Lions retain their spot at the top of World Cup qualifying Group F ahead of Friday 11 November’s clash with Scotland.
Daniel Amartey, who on Friday helped Ghana record a goalless draw with Uganda, played another 90 minutes for the Black Stars in an international friendly with South Africa.
Mubarak Wakaso broke the deadlock to put Ghana ahead, before Ayanda Patosi netted a second-half equaliser, with the game eventually finishing 1-1.
Forward Demarai Gray played the final 17 minutes of England Under-21s’ thrashing of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Euro U21 Championship qualifying.
The young Lions, who had already qualified for next summer’s finals in Poland, recorded a 5-0 win in Walsall thanks to Tammy Abraham’s double and strikes from John Swift, Josh Onomah and Duncan Watmore.
Over in Euro U19 Championship qualification, Alex Pascanu played just under 80 minutes for Romania’s Under-19s in their 6-0 victory over San Marino, while young City defender Cal Templeton completed 72 minutes for Northern Ireland’s Under-19s in their 1-0 defeat to Poland.
