- The City boss wants his men to continue to play as a unit
- The Foxes are recharged and ready to battle, says Ranieri
Claudio Ranieri says the Blue Army can expect nothing less than a battling performance from his Leicester City side when they face Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
The Premier League champions head to White Hart Lane on the back of victories against FC Copenhagen and most recently Crystal Palace and have been hard at work preparing for Saturday’s encounter.
City take on a Spurs side who are yet to be beaten in the Premier League this term and Ranieri says his men must stand strong as a unit against the London outfit if they are to record a positive result.
Ranieri said: “I think we are more close to winning than losing again. We know it will be a good match against Spurs. They are a good team.
“Last season they were very close to us to fight and also they continue this season to fight for the title. I expect to go there to fight and to try and win the match. Fans can come to White Hart Lane and see our best.
“There is no secret to beating Spurs only hard work during season. Be solid and play together – that’s our secret.
"Tottenham are the only unbeaten team because they have a very good squad and [Mauricio] Pochettino can rotate his players.
“We’ve worked very well this week. I watched them very closely and they worked well, everybody, I’m happy.
“I think we’ve made very good preparation. When play every three days very difficult to play and recharge batteries. Now we are ready for Saturday.”
The Foxes recorded a 1-0 win at White Hart Lane last term in what eventually proved to be a huge result in the race for the Premier League title.
“There were so many key matches last season for us,” added Ranieri. “We always said Manchester City and also Arsenal when we lost but every match was a key match because every match gave us energy.
“I remember it was a tough match at Spurs, an open match and then Rob [Huth] scored with a header from a corner. It will be another tough match for us and for them.
“It’s very important for us to keep a clean sheet now. I’m sure we are getting better. We lost the four matches because we weren‘t so concentrated. Now I believe my players are solid again and will make better matches.”
