The visit of the Black Cats on 8 August forms part of a testing start for the Foxes, who will also host Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa in their first six games between trips to West Ham United, newly promoted Bournemouth and Stoke City.
City’s first top-four opponents from last season’s standings will be Arsenal at King Power Stadium (26 September), while Manchester United (28 November), champions Chelsea (12 December) and Manchester City (28 December) all visit Filbert Way before the turn of the year.
The festive period includes a double-header in Merseyside, as the Foxes travel to Everton (19 December) and Liverpool (Boxing Day), before hosting City (28 December) and Bournemouth (2 January).
The end-of-season run-in should also provide a thorough examination of the City squad, as they host West Ham, Swansea City and Everton in the final six games, along with trips to Sunderland, Manchester United and a final-day visit to Stamford Bridge to play the reigning champions.
All fixtures are subject to change pending live broadcast selections, which will be confirmed in the coming weeks. Changes will be reported on lcfc.com as they are made. Matchday ticket information to be confirmed in due course.
