- The striker is the Barclays Premier League top scorer with 10 goals in 10 games
- Schwarzer says teams are finding it difficult to contain the England international
- The Australian praises Vardy’s determination and attitude
Mark Schwarzer says Leicester City will be doing everything they can to make sure Jamie Vardy can maintain his record-breaking scoring streak in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday.
Heading into the weekend’s clash with West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns, the England international has found the net in seven consecutive top-flight matches – the first Leicester City player ever to achieve the feat.
That takes his total to 10 in 10 league games this season, with his pace, power and aggression causing havoc across the league.
His wonderful lofted strike against Crystal Palace last time out underlined just how much of an accomplished finisher the former Fleetwood Town man has become, and Schwarzer knows just how important those goals are for the team.
He told : “I think everyone is finding it very, very difficult to contain him. But you know as a footballer sometimes things go really well for you and you’ve got to make the most of that when it’s happening.
“At the moment Vards (Jamie Vardy) is playing extremely well and he can’t put a foot wrong. That’s brilliant for us and we’re all going to push to help him play as well as he can for as long as he can.
“Hopefully he keeps scoring for us because the goals he has scored have been vital for us.
“He’s very important. He’s an unbelievable athlete and his determination and attitude towards the game is immense. He causes nightmares for opposition defences.”
