It was a party fit for champions on Monday as the people of Leicester gathered to welcome Claudio Ranieri and his Premier League title winners on an unforgettable day for the city.
Almost 250,000 people turned out to join the team in celebration of arguably the most incredible title victory in the history of the English game, lining the city streets as well as filling Victoria Park.
An open-top bus, with the players and the trophy aboard, carved a route through the city centre, as swarms of jubilant Foxes fans cheered their heroes the entire way.
The parade took them past Jubilee Square, the Clock Tower and the Cultural Quarter before arriving to greet the jubilant masses gathered inside a bouncing Victoria Park.
MistaJam warmed the crowds in the late afternoon sun with a brilliant DJ set, followed by a gospel choir and bangra band to get the party started.
Fellow title winners Leicester Riders and Leicester City Women FC were congratulated on stage by the thousands in attendance, before Jersey Budd’s ‘When You’re Smiling’ got the whole crowd singing.
The Premier League champions – along with thousands more fans hoping to get a glimpse of their heroes – arrived at Victoria Park just after 7pm to a cauldron of noise.
Premier League Player of the Season Jamie Vardy, Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Season Riyad Mahrez and ever-present skipper Wes Morgan gave their recollections of the campaign shortly after, before manager Claudio Ranieri received the warmest of welcomes on stage.
Fireworks greeted the lifting of the trophy as a sea of around 150,000 Leicester City fans stretched as far as the eye could see, but there was more to come.
Rock band Kasabian took to the stage to bring the show to a fitting finale on a night that the city of Leicester and its champion players will never, ever forget.
