After an impressive outing in a Leicester City shirt on Sunday, Luis Hernandez says the squad’s full focus is on their Premier League opener with Hull City on Saturday.

Hernandez came on as a second half substitute during City’s narrow 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Wembley, where the Foxes could count themselves unfortunate to end up on the losing side.

Jamie Vardy cancelled out Jesse Lingard’s opener before Zlatan Ibrahimovic struck in the final 10 minutes to deny the Foxes, although there were plenty of positives to take.

For Hernandez, who joined on a free transfer this summer, he is now concentrating hard on the trip to Hull this Saturday afternoon as City look to kick off their title defence with a victory.

“I think for all players they are happy to play at Wembley,” he told LCFC TV. “It is a good stadium. It has given us a taste to come here again and win. I am very proud of my team-mates for their performances, but tomorrow is another day and we can put all our efforts now into next Saturday.

“I think it is important that we have the hurt in the next game next Saturday. I think it is important to start the season well after last season. I hope we can play well and get the win.”

Despite getting the chance to pull on the blue shirt for the first time at Wembley, Hernandez couldn’t hide his frustration at City’s defeat in a game in which he felt the result didn’t reflect the performance.

He explained: “I was very happy to play my first competitive game for the Club but I am not happy about the result.

“I thought the team played a good game and we showed that again this season we can compete with the Premier League’s big clubs.

“We made many chances to score, but that is football. If you can score you must score and they have very good players who can score at any time.

“If we had taken one of our chances the game could have changed. But it isn’t just the result. I think we can be happy with the performance and be confident for the season. This is the line to be continued.”
