After watching his team secure their first Premier League point of the campaign at home to Arsenal, Claudio Ranieri felt the Foxes deserved to come away with a victory.

City put in a determined performance during a tense encounter at King Power Stadium, but despite creating a host of chances, particularly in the second half, the match ended all square at 0-0.

Ranieri's men also had penalty appeals turned down as they went toe-to-toe with the Gunners in their first home outing of the season.

Riyad Mahrez, Danny Drinkwater and Jamie Vardy all had opportunities as the game wore on, meaning there were plenty of positives for the Foxes to take as they head into next weekend’s clash with Swansea City.

“It was a good performance, the result is good but we deserved a little more I think,” Ranieri reflected after the match. “Okay, they kept more possession and were very dangerous but not with a clear chance.

“We kept less possession, we know this, but we created a lot more clear chances to win the match. It was unlucky. But I am very happy for the effort, the spirit and the union of the team.

“Our edge and our spirit. I watched our spirit and it was a very good performance. I am very happy against a very good team.”

A concern for the Foxes was the sight on summer signing Papy Mendy limping off with a knock in the second half on his full debut for the Club.

Ranieri said of the injury: “He twisted his ankle and tomorrow we will check everything. I hope it is nothing serious. He has blocked the ankle and he is not happy afterwards of course.

“Now it is blocked so I am not so happy and I am not so sure he can recover for the next week right now. Tomorrow we will see.”
