George Heaven scored as Leicester City's Under-19s opened the Generali Cee Cup with a 1-0 win over Slovakian outfit Nitra in Prague on Thursday.

- Leicester City open their Generali Cee Cup account with a 1-0 win over FC Nitra
- The Under-19s sit top of Group C after George Heaven's winner in the 13th minute
- Kian Williams rattled the post for the young Foxes while Heaven was sent off late on
- City will face FK Sarajevo in their second group stage fixture on Saturday afternoon

When Morgan Brown’s free-kick was fumbled by Nitra goalkeeper Robert Balazi, Heaven was quickest to react by bundling the ball into an empty net after 13 minutes at Evžen Rošický Stadium.

Late on, City burst down the left flank before Kian Williams was denied by the post. Heaven was also sent off in the dying moments but the Foxes dug in to open their account with a hard-fought win.

The captains exchange handshakes before kick-off.

This victory puts Trevor Peake’s men top of Group C ahead of Saturday's clash with FK Sarajevo (2:15pm BST kick-off). Once all group fixtures are complete, the pool winners progress into the semi-finals.

The runners-up, meanwhile, separate into ‘ranking games’. Earlier on Thursday, English counterparts Burnley opened with a 1-0 success over Sparta Praha as Everton drew 0-0 with FC Academy Pandev.

City’s Group C rivals FK Sarajevo and FC Nitra, on the other hand, will meet on Friday at 2:15pm.
