Both sides will have hoped for a greater points return from their opening eight matches this season and will view this weekend’s Premier League clash as an opportunity to start putting that right.

The Swans sit 13th in the fledgling league standings while City occupy a berth in the bottom three following the 1-1 home draw with West Bromwich Albion on Monday evening.

“They’ve had an indifferent start to the season, just like ourselves,” Maguire told LCFC TV on Thursday morning, previewing the encounter with Paul Clement’s men.

“Our fixtures have been the hardest anyone can play against in the Premier League, but we know we can’t make any excuses about that.

“They’ve had a tough start. We know their aim at the start of the season and we know our aim. We know they’ll be setting out camp looking at our game.

“They’ll be thinking that it’s Leicester at home so they’ll try and take maximum points off us and we’ll be looking at that game and thinking the same thing.

“It should be an interesting game and attacking game and hopefully, like I’ve said, the fine margins can flip round and we can get that win.”

The first goal in a Premier League match is crucial. I think the statistics of when you score first and go on to win is frightening and we haven’t done it enough this season.

Maguire also wants to see City show a heightened attacking threat from the start in South Wales, something he feels they have been lacking in previous outings.

“The hardest thing in football is sticking the ball in the back of the net,” he added.

“I think this season, we haven’t started games well enough and that’s something that we’ve been looking at over the last few games.

“I’m sure the new gaffer that comes in and Appy [Caretaker Manager, Michael Appleton] will be reiterating that. Come Saturday, we do need to start games faster.

Earlier this month, the 24-year-old also made his England debut with the Three Lions emerging as 1-0 winners in Vilnius courtesy of a Harry Kane penalty on 27 minutes.

“It’s a very proud moment for myself,” he continued, speaking at the Club's Belvoir Drive training ground.

“It’s something that I always thought about and dreamt about as a kid and there’s loads and loads of kids out there doing the same.

I knew it was going to be a difficult challenge at Leicester, but my main focus is to play week in, week out in the Premier League and up to now I’ve done that.

“I feel very proud for that moment and hopefully there’s a few more to come.

“It was a big thing for me to play week in, week out and to sign for a club that have the history that they have and the players that they have here.

“Hopefully I can carry that on until the end of the season.”
