- The Grounds Team at Leicester City have once again seen their hard work recognised
- Last week, they were presented with the IOG SGL Professional Football Grounds Team of the Year
- In the past, the team have also been highly commended by the Premier League
The team, led by Grounds Manager John Ledwidge, were presented with the IOG SGL Professional Football Grounds Team of the Year award in Birmingham last Wednesday.
Through hard work and dedication, City’s Grounds Team have earned worldwide acclaim in past seasons for their creative designs and tireless maintenance of the Club’s playing surfaces.
While their work at King Power Stadium is well documented, they also manage the surfaces at Holmes Park, the Development Squad's permanent home venue, and the Club’s Belvoir Drive training complex.
In the past, the team have received similar awards from the Institute of Groundsmanship and, last season, they came highly commended by the Premier League.
John Ledwidge told LCFC.com: “I’m exceptionally proud of my Grounds Team, their dedication and professionalism over the past 12 months and everyday is second to none.
"To compete with clubs such as Arsenal and Tottenham for this award is an honour, but to win shows how fantastic my team’s work has been.
"Over my four years at the Club, we have strived to establish a structure with staff and resource that helps us go about our business in a professional and respected manner and we have seen the benefits over time.
"This is very much a team award borne out of individual efforts towards a collective goal and with providing the best possible facilities for our players of all ages at the core of our value, I feel this is justification of that ongoing goal.
"With the support of the owners and the Board of Directors, we have developed a clear identity in our work and we are always striving to improve with each passing season."
