- Leicester City draw 1-1 with West Ham United in the Premier League at London Stadium
- Marc Albrighton gave the Foxes a lead before Cheikhou Kouyaté leveled on the stroke of half-time
- Manager Claude Puel felt his side could have been further ahead by half time
- He called for a more clinical Leicester City going forward
The Foxes started well against the Hammers and took an eighth minute lead courtesy of Marc Albrighton, who turned the ball home after good work from Jamie Vardy on the flank.
City continued to press for another goal but conceded on the stroke of 45 minutes for the second time in a week as Cheikhou Kouyaté headed in from a corner to make it 1-1 – a goal that breathed new life into the hosts at London Stadium.
Chances were harder to come by in the second half and City were eventually made to settle for a draw as they chalked up a fifth successive away game without defeat, although the manager felt some frustration at the result.
Speaking to media at full time, Puel said: “A draw away, it’s always interesting but I think it’s a little bit of a frustration. At the end it was a draw just like our game at Stoke. We were leading them 1-0 and 2-1 and in the end it was 2-2, it was the same thing.
“We conceded a goal just before half time from a corner kick. We have to correct it and we have to find a clinical edge because we had a lot of opportunities and situations in the first half.
“We had to kill the game in the first half, but they scored just before half time and came back with confidence. The atmosphere improved in the stadium and it was crucial to keep the draw.
“It was difficult to play the second half but the first half was promising for the future. We had good moves and found good space but at the end we have frustration.”
