- Wes Morgan says Leicester City’s 1-0 win over Sheffield United was well deserved
- Jamie Vardy scored the only goal of the game to send City into the Emirates FA Cup Quarter-Finals
- Morgan made a return from injury having not featured since New Year’s Day following a hamstring problem
Jamie Vardy’s second-half header helped City book their spot in the quarter-finals of the prestigious competition, as the England international’s solo strike earned a 1-0 victory.
The Foxes created several goalscoring opportunities in each half and while Morgan believes the win could have been by a greater margin, his side can still be pleased with their result.
“I felt like we dominated the game and created some good chances throughout the game,” Morgan told LCFC TV at the final whistle.
“We looked the most likely to scored goals and go onto win it so I think it’s a well-deserved victory and on to the next round.
“We had some good chances in the first half, but we went in full of confidence knowing that the same type of performance will give us the rewards and we got it in the end.
“[The scoreline] 1-0 was maybe a light result but on another day, we could have scored more goals.”
Vardy was on target for a fifth-straight game, having scored in four previous Premier League outings prior to Friday’s win.
Morgan said of the striker’s recent displays: “He’s on top form at the moment. He’s always threatening the opposition’s goal and getting in the right positions.
“He could have had a couple of goals in the first half but he kept going and got his goal eventually.”
At the other end, Morgan praised goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel for pulling off an excellent save to prevent the Blades from drawing level late on
“When you’re dominating the game, goalkeepers can’t switch off,” added Morgan. “They had the odd chance, especially towards the end of the second half.
“He had to stand up and be counted and it was a great save from him. It kept us in the game.”
