Move On Quickly, Says Beaglehole

A double from George Byers was added upon by Kenji Gorrè at the south Wales club’s training ground in Landore on Monday night, although Sam Hughes did find the net late on for City.

While the Swans were reduced to 10 men when Mael Davies was dismissed in the latter moments, the damage had already been done and the Foxes had to accept defeat.

However, the result marked just Leicester’s fourth reverse of the Premier League 2 so far campaign and Beaglehole’s side still hold on to top spot in the Division 1 table.

“It’s a disappointing result, but you’ve got to give credit to Swansea, I thought they did a job on us, like we’ve done on a lot of teams this season,” the Under-23s manager told LCFC TV.

“I thought, early on in the game, they pressed us better than we were pressing them… they got on top of the midfield, they won second balls and they obviously got a goal ahead.

“We talked about keeping a clean sheet, as we always do. More often than not, you’ll get three points. We got a goal back late on in the game, but it’s too late when we’re 3-1 down.

“I think, generally, I think we showed a lack of discipline. We’ve not shown [that] in 20 games, to be fair, and even top teams have a bad game, a bad day at the office.

“I don’t think we’ve done ourselves justice tonight. I don’t know why, but you’ve seen us play a lot. I think it’s one of those games where everybody had a way, way below-par game.”

Despite the frustration of defeat, Beaglehole insists that it is all to play for at the top of Division 1 and he challenged his young players to move on and recover quickly.   

“We’ve got take it,” he added. “In terms of winning the league, it was a game which meant a lot to them. They deserved to win the game on the 90 minutes.

"We were way below par but it’s a funny old game. Who would have thought that Liverpool would’ve lost, Arsenal would’ve lost, Everton would’ve lost yesterday and we would’ve lost?

“If you look at it from a positive point of view, it just means that everybody has a game less and the league table is exactly the same.

“If you’d have said to me we’ll be top of the league with two games left, one of them at home, we’d have took that. We’re not out of it yet, we’re certainly not out of it yet.

“We’ll probably have to win both games, Sunderland and Derby. I think if we do win both games, we’ll win the league. I said to the players that I think they deserve to.

“There’s been very, very few occasions when we’ve not delivered and this was one of them. It’s part and parcel of becoming a better player, it’s not about the team.”
