Schmeichel kept another clean sheet in Russia, helping Denmark secure second spot in Group C with a 0-0 draw against Didier Deschamps' men.
The City stopper recorded a second shutout of the tournament following solid displays against Peru and Australia.
The Danes will now face in-form Croatia in the initial knockout round in Nizhny Novgorod on Sunday.

Meanwhile, despite an impressive display against Argentina, Nigeria exited the World Cup following a 2-1 loss in which Ahmed Musa, Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi all featured from the off.
Victor Moses’ second-half penalty had put the Super Eagles in a position to progress after Lionel Messi’s opener, but Marcos Rojo struck late on to hand victory and second place in Group D to Argentina.
