- Demarai Gray believes he has matured as both a player and a person since joining Leicester City
- Gray is hoping to be a consistent starter under Claude Puel this term
- The winger went on to explain the positive relationship he has with team-mates James Maddison and Ben Chilwell
Gray played from start to finish at Old Trafford as City opened their 2018/19 Premier League account with a narrow loss to Manchester United.
The England youth international has developed significantly since joining as a 19-year-old from Birmingham City in January 2016 and is now aiming to make a big impact during his third full season as a Fox.
“I think it’s time I take the next step into my game,” Gray said ahead of Saturday’s encounter with Wolves. “I’m 22 now and I’m maturing as a player and as a person.
“I’m training every day and taking each game as it comes trying to cement my place in the starting XI.
“I think because I’ve been around first team football since I was 17, I know the ins and outs of what goes on, what’s to be expected and the highs and lows.”
The Blue Army will no doubt be excited to see the link-up play between Gray, Ben Chilwell and James Maddison, who are all good friends off the pitch.
“I’ve known Ben since I’ve been at the Club and I’ve been good friends with James for a long time,” revealed Gray.
“Playing with your mates gives you that bit of extra chemistry and at times it comes out on the pitch, so it’s good.
“I think as a team, we’ve clicked all round. We’ve got a good dressing room. The older players have mixed well with the youngsters and it’s important to have a relationship with the more experienced players.”
