- Leicester City youngster Hamza Choudhury signs contract to 2022
- The 21-year-old Leicester local came through the ranks at the Club’s Academy
- Choudhury made his Leicester City debut against Liverpool in September 2017
- The midfielder featured in all of City’s final seven Premier League fixtures last season
A highly-rated England Under-21 international, who has been with the Club’s Academy since the age of seven, Choudhury has impressed over the past 12 months among several young players to be given first team opportunities under Claude Puel.
The Loughborough-born 21-year-old made his first team debut for the Foxes in a September 2017 EFL Cup game against Liverpool and has continued to make progress since.
The tough-tackling central midfielder soon built on his experience against Liverpool with a Premier League debut later that season at home to Tottenham Hotspur before featuring in each of Leicester City’s final seven fixtures of the 2017/18 campaign.
During that period, he made his first top-flight start for the Foxes against Burnley, while also registering a fine assist during the 3-1 win over Arsenal in May 2018. He has made one first team appearance this season, coming off the bench against Wolverhampton Wanderers to help City advance in the EFL Cup.
Choudhury had earlier developed his talents with a loan spell at Burton Albion in both League One and the Championship as a teenager. He made a total of 28 appearances across two loans with the Brewers, who earned promotion to the second tier during that time.
With Leicester City’s Academy, Choudhury was part of the Under-18 side that reached the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup in 2014/15 for only the second time in the Club’s history and went on to captain the Club’s Development Squad.
