- Claude Puel credited Leicester City for their fine attacking play against Watford on Saturday
- Jamie Vardy and James Maddison both found the back of the net in a 2-0 win
- Puel says the Foxes delivered a ‘complete game’ against the Hornets
Jamie Vardy’s penalty on 11 minutes gave the Foxes a 1-0 lead before James Maddison’s excellent solo effort doubled their advantage.
It is the first time since their 2-0 triumph over Wolverhampton Wanderers in mid-August that they have headed into the interval with a two-goal advantage in the Premier League – a statistic Puel highlighted at the final whistle.
“Of course, I’m happy,” Puel told LCFC TV. “I’m happy for the squad because they gave their best. We started very well in the game with goals and fantastic counter-attacks.
“To score two goals in the first half, I don’t know if we have had this result since the beginning of the season.
“Of course, it was a good feeling, but we played against a strong team, we know. They played with direct style with long balls. They won the second balls after they played in our half. They were dangerous from set plays.
“It was important to manage and to play this game. Sometimes, we needed to play against a strong defensive unit with strong blocks.
“All the time, we can have some counter-attacks and today, we showed a different face with fantastic counter-attacks and fantastic goals. I like this. We needed to have a complete game. I am happy with this.”
Puel credited every member of the squad after the game, underlining the importance of a fourth clean sheet in their past five outings in all competitions.
He added: “We have confidence about our play and our solidity, and most importantly our mentality. All the players gave their best to participate, to attack and to have a complete game.
“The players coming off the bench also played very well and gave fantastic support to the team. If we keep this mentality and positive attitude, it will be great for the next games. We will see, but any game is so difficult and is strong to play.
“We cannot have for the moment an objective, but it’s amazing and an encouraging to play this game. It’s another clean sheet and we work together. With the support from our fans, it’s a fantastic thing.”
